Lohkare
Sometimes the design is done by paddling. The Lohkare is shaped by a migratory boulder that designer Lasse Kovanen meets every now and then in the Baltic Sea archipelago. Lasse won't tell us the exact location of the boulder, the pleasure will be reserved for the finder.
Inspired by nature
“On this one island, I found an erratic boulder, whose shape reminded me of a vase. This outlined the shape of the vase. As I was sculpting the shape with plaster, I considered not only the tension between natural and regular shape, but also the aspects of expression and simplification. It was important for me to interpret my feelings towards my own nature experience through design and sculpting. The form of Lohkare addresses us in a similar way to nature itself.”

Designer Lasse Kovanen
Lasse states that the most important task and the most valuable skill of a designer is to incorporate "something you can't put into words" into a product. And that "something" has to touch people's hearts. Lasse is inspired by happy moments and the things and experiences that are close to people. His favourite subject is the world of nature, plants and animals. When Lasse is designing, he also pays attention to the customer. You can try to please customers and predict how they behave, but you have to find a way to win their love every time. Lasse has a master’s degree in fine arts (industrial design major).
