Lasse Kovanen painted the Narsissi (Daffodil) pattern using the traditional tempera technique, in which egg is used as a binding substance for the colours. This painting technique, familiar from icon painting, is characterised by a subtle translucency that creates extremely beautiful, delicate details. In the Narsissi pattern, the brushstrokes and several layers of paint are still visible.
